Another week of knitting projects in various stages of “almost done,” plus a surprisingly productive reading week.Here’s what I’ve been making, reading and loving this week.
What I’m Knitting
A Soap Sock for a Girl Scout Event
This week’s quickest project had a very specific purpose: I cast on and finished a soap sock to use as an entry fee for a Girl Scout event.
I love projects like this. They’re small, practical and don’t require a huge time commitment. Plus, a handmade soap sock makes a pretty useful little gift.
One project off the needles!
Audrey’s Halloween Costume
I’m also getting closer to finishing arm warmer #1 for Audrey’s Halloween costume.
She’s going as Charlotte from Five Nights at Freddy’s, so naturally, the costume needs some knitted accessories. Because apparently Halloween costumes are another excellent excuse to add knitting to my project list.
Arm warmer #1 is almost finished. Once I switch needle sizes, I can finish off arm warmer #2.
At this point, I’m looking forward to having the pair done almost as much as Audrey is looking forward to Halloween.
My First Sweater
I also worked on the second sleeve of my first sweater this week. I’ve officially reached the six-round repeat decrease section, which I need to complete 15 times.
So, yes, there is still a bit of sleeve left to knit. But I’m definitely in the home stretch now, and there’s something very satisfying about watching that sleeve slowly get narrower and closer to the cuff.

I had a particularly productive reading week and finished five books:

Products I’m Loving
My 9” & 12” ChiaoGoo Circular Needles
My 9” and 12” circular needles continue to be one of my favorite tools for knitting socks. I especially love them for my TAAT (two-at-a-time) arm warmers I am simultaneously knitting.
They’re compact, easy to take along and make knitting feel wonderfully portable.
My iPad for Reading
My iPad has also become one of my favorite reading tools. Having The Cat Who Saw Red with me digitally means I can switch from knitting to reading without adding another physical book to my already very full knitting bag.
My Knitting Project Bag
A good project bag earns its keep around here. Between a sweater sleeve, Halloween arm warmers and small gift projects, I need something that can keep each project contained without turning my knitting supplies into one giant yarny archaeological dig.
