October Knitting & My Current Obsessions
I love words + pictures so much that this is too long to read in an email. Read the entire article in the app or online at coastalknitsandpurls.com.
October was a whirlwind of sock knitting, sweater adventures, Halloween vibes and the start of my holiday gift shopping. Let’s dive into what I was up to and what I’m currently obsessed with in the knitting world.

Knitting
FOs (Finished Objects)
I wrapped up Wings of Renewal with a Pop of Color Shortie Sock #1 and I love how it turned out.
Yarn: Hypnotic Yarn – Wings of Renewal
Needles: Chiaogoo 9” Circulars
Pattern: Modified Vanilla Shortie Sock
WIPs (Works in Progress)
I’ve got a second shortie sock on the needles in the same colorway (obviously, Socktober vibes!) and it’s coming along nicely.
Yarn: Hypnotic Yarn – Wings of Renewal
Needles: Chiaogoo 9” Circulars
Pattern: Modified Vanilla Shortie Sock
And… drumroll please… I cast on my very first sweater on October 1! It’s a modified DK Flax and I’m currently working on the yoke (round 40 of 50 — so close but not quite!).
3 Current Knitting Obsessions
Here’s what I can’t stop reaching for this month:
Chiaogoo Red Twist Interchangeable Needles – They make sock and sweater knitting a dream.
Hypnotic Yarn – The colorways are hypnotic for a reason. I’m seriously considering buying all the colors.
Lion Brand Pound of Love – Perfect for my first cozy sweater project, soft and squishy!
Reading
October was a solid reading month. Here’s what I finished:
Perfect Son ⭐️⭐️⭐️
What Lies in the Woods ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Daisy Darker ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Web ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Clinic ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Murder on the Marlow Belle ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Retirement Plan ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fever Beach ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Knitting Circle ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Currently, I’m reading The Man Next Door and it’s okay.
You can order my October reads through Bookshop.org to add them to your bookshelf or TBR pile. Every purchase gives back to local bookstores and contributes to my Wool Work for Yarn Fund. Win-win!
October was productive, spooky and cozy. I can’t wait to see what November brings, but I suspect it’s more knitting, reading and definitely more knitting obsessions. 🧶✨
